Through the Lowlander Center’s partnership with the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee, the Lowlander Center and its members have attended several gatherings and contributed to UUSC publications.

Many of the people from the coastal area, the Tribes we collaborate with and the Lowlander Center members have been participants, supporters and leaders within the Rising Voices community.

Victoria, partner/collaborator with the Lowlander Center on the Climigration Dialogues and the Coastal- Inland dialogues, is awarded the Kaplan Innovation Grant for the Rising Tides innitiative.

Lowlander’s collaboration with the architecture, landscape and planning departments at all Louisiana colleges around the state who have such programs  is entering its third year. 

While Lowlander members were attending the 44th annual meeting of the Natural Hazards Workshop sponsored by the Univ. of Colorado’s Natural Hazards Center, recontact was made with the faculty and staff of the Texas A&M Hazard Reduction and Recovery Center and their community collaborators.

This report is about the challenges and recommended protective actions for small businesses along coastal Louisiana from St. Bernard Parish to Delcambre in Iberia/Vermilion Parishes to extreme weather and sea level rise risk.  It was funded by a grant from the Entergy Foundation in 2015.

Vera Petrovic represented the Lowlander Center as a youth delegate at the San Francisco Climate Action Summit.
