In November National Geographic partnered with the Lowlander Center to host a photo camp. During the photo camp, students worked to create a video depicting stories from their community. Here is the final product:

The Lowlander Center has worked with the Isle de Jean Charles Biloxi-Chitimacha-Choctaw Tribe and other partners in support of the creation of a Tool Kit for communities undergoing environmental and developmental pressures. The final product is Preserving our Place: A Community Field Guide to Engagement, Resilience, and Resettlement:

Lowlander Center members spoke on a panel at the State of the Planet Conference hosted by Columbia University School of Law. Read about the panel and the response on the Columbia University Earth Institute blog.

Through the Lowlander Center’s partnership with the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee, the Lowlander Center and its members have attended several gatherings and contributed to UUSC publications.

Many of the people from the coastal area, the Tribes we collaborate with and the Lowlander Center members have been participants, supporters and leaders within the Rising Voices community.
